Hello! I am Mary Hood, the owner of Mary’s House of Flair. I am an Independent Consultant for Paparazzi jewelry. I became familiar with Paparazzi when the lockdown from the pandemic started in my area. I went from mom who worked part-time and ran kid taxi full-time…to a dead halt.
I fight high-functioning anxiety and depression. As a result of being in lockdown, I needed an escape badly! My depression was becoming unbearable and my anxiety issues had fluxed to max capacity! I saw a friend from high school while watching the rest of the world still turning on social media. I had not seen this person since high school but did at this moment. I believe her inviting me to her jewelry live video was a divine appointment.
I was floundering to find joy with my now many many many hats in one day. I was losing myself in the tasks that I never thought I would do, like virtual school. This was very overwhelming for me and I started shutting down a couple hours into the days. I would get to the point where I would hide! This was becoming a horrible coping mechanism.
I started making a routine of watching my friend on her jewelry lives. This was the highlight of my day. She would be so happy in what she was doing and her husband and her were having so much fun! I told myself that I WANTED that…I wanted to feel good again and help others smile too.
This idea churned in me. I continued to watch and buy jewelry from my friends. Finally, a few months into pandemic, I decided I needed a job that matched my now super unusual schedule. I talked to my husband who was a bit on the fence. He talked to my friend and her husband. He thought it was a great way for me to recover from this depression and get myself out there. (not let anxiety get the best of me)
Even though the road has been rough, it has also been paved with gold bricks! I have gotten back to the ME buried inside. The person who loved helping other people. The person I am as an individual and the need for personal purpose daily. I am always learning new things and feel a strive I needed to have outside of the everyday.
